Knitting needles come in various styles and materials.
Fixed circulars are used for knitting flat and in the round. They are a pair of needles connected by some sort of cord. We have organized them by cord length, which is measured from needle tip to needle tip. These are the most popular style of knitting needles.
SPN (Single Point Needles) are what most of us think of first when we hear "knitting needles" - they're a pair of pointed sticks, usually with some sort of stopper on the other end. They're great for knitting flat, working "trickier" cast ons, and beginners.
DPN (Double Pointed Needles) have points on both ends, are sold in sets of four or five and are used for knitting smaller circumferences in the round.
We carry the following brands/lines. Not all sizes/ styles are available in each line.
Brittany - Made in California of sustainable birch, these are a classic needle and a favorite of many knitters. They are only available as SPNs and DPNs.
Kollage Square - These needles are made in Canada by an organization that employs and helps train those who face barriers to employment. The needles are made of lightweight aluminum with stainless steel swivel joins. And yes, they are square. Many find the square shape and swivel connections easier on their hands.
Lykke - Made in Nepal, this is a newer manufacturer, they quickly became a customer favorite. They offer a number of lines.
Blush - They dyed their original Driftwood line pink!
Driftwood - The original/first line, these needles are made of birch. They have a nice slick finish and offer the warmth of wood.
Grove - If you're a fan of bamboo, this is your line. Bamboo needles are strong and light.
Indigo - The original Driftwood line, except they're blue!
Umber - These needles are a warm brown version of their Driftwood line.
Smart Stix by Knitter's Pride - They're called "Smart" because they have 1" increments on the needles and cords - allowing you to measure swatches and projects as well as calculate gauge and yarn weight (wraps per inch)! They're color coded as well.
